Application parameters
| Application method | Electrostatic spray, 40–100 kV |
| Cure schedule | 190–200 °C (374–392 °F) for 10–15 minObject (metal) surface temperature, not oven set-point |
| Film thickness | 80–120 µm recommended; 80–180 µm working range |
| Appearance | Free-flowing powder |
| Packaging | 25 kg carton, non-hazardous for transport |
| Storage | Cool, dry, below 35 °C (low-temperature-cure grades below 25 °C) |
| Shelf life | 6 months |
Cure temperature is the object surface temperature. Oven set-points must be adjusted to the part mass, line speed and oven type so that the metal itself reaches 190–200 °C for 10–15 minutes. Pretreatment must meet the agreed specification; film thickness and application method influence colour, gloss and appearance, and laboratory panels differ from production parts, so gun settings are finalised on the customer's line.
Where P720 series is used
P720 is the mid-point of the range and the most frequent candidate for outdoor cabinets, distribution boxes, energy-storage enclosures, air-conditioner outdoor units and brackets, where condensation, rain and sun act together. The 1000 h xenon-arc result matches P1680, so P720 is often the economical choice when salt exposure is moderate. For outdoor electrical equipment steel enclosures that require a UL 1332 recognized coating, ask about model WA-DQ 001A, which is evaluated separately under UL 1332.
Typical applications
- Energy storage & electrical enclosures
- Home appliances (outdoor units)
- Architectural aluminium & façades
- Industrial equipment & machinery
- Furniture & metal products
Compliance & quality system
WANAN powder coatings are produced under quality, environmental and occupational-health management systems certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, and the design and manufacturing of thermosetting powder coatings is certified to IATF 16949:2016. Batch testing is carried out in WANAN's in-house laboratory, accredited by CNAS (L15415) to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
SGS reports (2026) on WANAN powder coating samples show compliance with RoHS Directive (EU) 2015/863, REACH SVHC candidate list screening at ≤ 0.1 % (w/w), soluble heavy metals, and California Proposition 65 limits for lead, cadmium and phthalates. Results apply to the tested samples; see certifications & compliance for report numbers and scopes.
Colours & finishes
Full colour range including metallic shades. RAL K7 shades, custom colour matching from a sample panel, and gloss levels agreed per project (measured at 60°, ISO 2813). WANAN maintains a library of roughly 100,000 formulated sample panels, which shortens matching time for repeat and near-match colours. See colours & finishes.
Packaging, storage & supply
- 25 kg cartons; non-hazardous for road, sea and air transport.
- Store in a cool, dry place below 35 °C; 6-month shelf life from date of manufacture.
- Produced across 7 production bases in China and Southeast Asia with a group capacity of about 80,000 t/year.
- Minimum order quantity, lead time and Incoterms are confirmed per project on request.
Frequently asked questions
What is the recommended film thickness for P720 on outdoor enclosures?
The P720 TDS recommends 80–120 µm dry film thickness with a working range of 80–180 µm. Edges, welds and inside corners usually carry less film than flat panels, so enclosure manufacturers should check edge coverage on production parts, not only on flat test panels, and adjust gun settings or add a primer where the specification demands it.
Does P720 meet Qualicoat Class 1 or Class 2?
P720 is characterised by the ISO test results in its TDS and is not itself labelled as a Qualicoat class. WANAN is a QUALICOAT approved powder manufacturer under approvals P-1436 (Class 1) and P-1982 (Class 2); the approved systems are named on those certificates. Ask WANAN for the approved system when a project requires a Qualicoat label.
Can P720 be applied over an EZ zinc-rich primer?
An EZ primer plus P720 topcoat is a common candidate system for aggressive outdoor steel. Inter-coat adhesion, cure matching and the combined-system salt spray result must be verified on trial panels, because the single-coat TDS values cannot be added. WANAN's CNAS-accredited laboratory can run the system tests during qualification.
