Application parameters
| Application method | Electrostatic spray, 40–100 kV |
| Cure schedule | 190–200 °C (374–392 °F) for 10–15 minObject (metal) surface temperature, not oven set-point |
| Film thickness | 80–120 µm recommended; 80–180 µm working range |
| Appearance | Free-flowing powder |
| Packaging | 25 kg carton, non-hazardous for transport |
| Storage | Cool, dry, below 35 °C (low-temperature-cure grades below 25 °C) |
| Shelf life | 6 months |
Cure temperature is the object surface temperature. Oven set-points must be adjusted to the part mass, line speed and oven type so that the metal itself reaches 190–200 °C for 10–15 minutes. Pretreatment must meet the agreed specification; film thickness and application method influence colour, gloss and appearance, and laboratory panels differ from production parts, so gun settings are finalised on the customer's line.
Where P1680 series is used
P1680 is specified where the coating must hold colour, gloss and adhesion through the longest salt-spray and humidity exposures in WANAN's polyester range: coastal and industrial-atmosphere enclosures, photovoltaic and energy-storage structures, outdoor telecom and power cabinets, architectural hardware on exposed façades and outdoor furniture in wet climates. The series name is a product designation and does not represent a 1680 h salt-spray result; the tested value is 1000 h under ISO 9227.
Typical applications
- Energy storage & electrical enclosures
- Architectural aluminium & façades
- Industrial equipment & machinery
- Home appliances (outdoor units)
- Automotive & transport components
Compliance & quality system
WANAN powder coatings are produced under quality, environmental and occupational-health management systems certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018, and the design and manufacturing of thermosetting powder coatings is certified to IATF 16949:2016. Batch testing is carried out in WANAN's in-house laboratory, accredited by CNAS (L15415) to ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
SGS reports (2026) on WANAN powder coating samples show compliance with RoHS Directive (EU) 2015/863, REACH SVHC candidate list screening at ≤ 0.1 % (w/w), soluble heavy metals, and California Proposition 65 limits for lead, cadmium and phthalates. Results apply to the tested samples; see certifications & compliance for report numbers and scopes.
Colours & finishes
Full colour range including metallic shades. RAL K7 shades, custom colour matching from a sample panel, and gloss levels agreed per project (measured at 60°, ISO 2813). WANAN maintains a library of roughly 100,000 formulated sample panels, which shortens matching time for repeat and near-match colours. See colours & finishes.
Packaging, storage & supply
- 25 kg cartons; non-hazardous for road, sea and air transport.
- Store in a cool, dry place below 35 °C; 6-month shelf life from date of manufacture.
- Produced across 7 production bases in China and Southeast Asia with a group capacity of about 80,000 t/year.
- Minimum order quantity, lead time and Incoterms are confirmed per project on request.
Frequently asked questions
Does the name P1680 mean 1680 hours of salt spray?
No. P1680 is a series designation. The tested neutral salt spray result in the TDS is 1000 h (ISO 9227), with 720 h humidity (ISO 6270-1) and 1000 h xenon-arc weathering (ISO 16474-2). WANAN does not present the series name as a super-durable certification grade; project qualification is based on the TDS values and the customer's own test programme.
What substrates is P1680 tested on?
The TDS values are generated on 70 × 150 × 0.6–0.8 mm phosphated steel panels, with 0.2–0.3 mm panels for flexibility, impact and cupping. On aluminium, galvanised steel or other pretreatments, performance depends on the conversion coating and film build, so WANAN recommends trial panels from the customer's actual line before specification.
Is P1680 suitable for coastal energy-storage cabinets?
P1680 is a candidate topcoat for coastal or industrial-atmosphere enclosures because it carries the highest salt-spray and humidity values in the range. For severe C4–C5 environments an EZ zinc-rich primer under P1680 is often specified, and the two-coat system is qualified on trial panels. For UL 1332 recognized enclosure coatings, model WA-DQ 001A is evaluated separately.
