Who this is for
Aluminium extruders, curtain-wall system houses, architectural metalwork fabricators, window and door hardware makers, building hardware manufacturers and professional applicators with vertical or horizontal powder lines.
What buyers need to solve
- Colour, gloss and surface appearance stability under outdoor exposure.
- Appearance consistency between batches, profiles and components on the same project.
- Transfer efficiency, film thickness, cure and coverage of complex profile edges on the line.
- Project-specified standards, customer documentation and the risk of switching from an incumbent supplier.
Candidate series and the logic behind them
| Requirement / part | Candidate | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Basic outdoor building hardware | P480 | Salt spray 480 h · humidity 240 h · xenon-arc 500 h |
| Higher humidity or weathering; enclosures and exposed components | P720 | Salt spray 720 h · humidity 480 h · xenon-arc 1000 h |
| Highest corrosion, weathering and appearance stability requirements | P1680 | Salt spray 1000 h · humidity 720 h · xenon-arc 1000 h |
| Projects requiring the QUALICOAT label | Approved system per certificate P-1436 / P-1982 | Class 1 and Class 2 approvals; ask for the approved system |
Smooth, sand-texture, heat-transfer (wood-grain) base coats and bonded-metallic effects are available for decorative building products; colour panels are supplied for approval.
What is verified before release
| Test dimension | Focus |
|---|---|
| Appearance consistency | Colour difference, gloss, flow and edge coverage on production profiles |
| Adhesion and flexibility | Cross-cut (ISO 2409) and bend (ISO 1519) after the customer's pretreatment and forming |
| Humidity and weathering | Per the customer's specification against the relevant TDS method |
| Line cure | Actual object temperature, film thickness and gun parameters on the customer's line |
How the introduction runs. Part, substrate, service environment and line data → candidate series and colour-matched samples → trial panels or production parts on the customer's line → tests in WANAN's CNAS-accredited laboratory (L15415) or per the customer's programme → documentation and release. See manufacturing & quality.
Frequently asked questions
Is WANAN a QUALICOAT approved powder manufacturer?
Yes. QUALICOAT authorises Fujian Wanan Industry Group Co., Ltd. to use the quality label under approvals P-1436 (Class 1, gloss category 3, metallic extension) and P-1982 (Class 2, gloss category 2), both valid until 31 December 2026 under the specifications applicable from 1 January 2026. The approved powder systems are named on the certificates, available on the certifications page.
Which series is recommended for aluminium window and door hardware?
P720 is the usual starting point for window and door hardware: 720 h neutral salt spray, 480 h humidity and 1000 h xenon-arc weathering. P480 suits sheltered or lower-exposure hardware, and P1680 is proposed for coastal or highly exposed façades. Adhesion on aluminium depends on the chromate or chrome-free conversion coating, so trial panels from the customer's pretreatment line are part of qualification.
Can WANAN match a project colour from an architect's sample?
Yes. WANAN matches colours from RAL references or physical samples and issues approved colour panels before production. The formulation library of roughly 100,000 sample panels covers most repeat and near-match shades. Gloss is specified per project and measured at 60° (ISO 2813). Metallic and textured finishes are approved on panels sprayed under production-like conditions.
