QUALICOAT approved powder manufacturer
QUALICOAT, Zurich, authorises Fujian Wanan Industry Group Co., Ltd. to use the QUALICOAT quality label as a powder manufacturer under two standard approvals: P-1436, Class 1, gloss category 3, with metallic extension (granted 12 June 2017), and P-1982, Class 2, gloss category 2 (granted 28 November 2023). Both are valid until 31 December 2026 under the QUALICOAT Specifications applicable from 1 January 2026.
What the approvals cover
Each QUALICOAT approval names a specific powder coating system, its class (Class 1 standard architectural, Class 2 super-durable), gloss category and whether a metallic extension is included. P-1436 lists one banned colour, RAL 7030, for its Class 1 system. The approved systems are identified on the certificates, which can be downloaded below and verified in the QUALICOAT approvals database at qualicoat.net.
Class 2 approval requires the powder to pass accelerated weathering and three-year Florida exposure with gloss retention above the Class 2 threshold, in addition to the mechanical, chemical and corrosion tests common to both classes.
How to specify for an architectural project
- State the QUALICOAT class required by the project (Class 1 or Class 2) and the gloss category.
- Ask WANAN for the approved system corresponding to that class and the certificate P-number; WANAN's P480, P720 and P1680 series are characterised by their own ISO test values and are not themselves the labelled systems.
- Coating must be applied by a QUALICOAT-licensed applicator for the finished component to carry the label; WANAN supplies the powder and the approval documents.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between QUALICOAT Class 1 and Class 2?
Class 1 is the standard architectural quality; Class 2 is super-durable, with stricter accelerated-weathering and three-year Florida gloss-retention requirements. WANAN holds both: P-1436 for a Class 1 system with metallic extension and P-1982 for a Class 2 system. The project specification determines which class and therefore which approved system is supplied.
Are P480, P720 and P1680 the QUALICOAT-approved products?
The P series are specified by the ISO 9227, ISO 6270-1 and ISO 16474-2 values in their technical data sheets. The QUALICOAT approvals apply to the powder systems named on certificates P-1436 and P-1982. For projects that require the QUALICOAT label, WANAN supplies the approved system and its certificate; ask the technical team to confirm the system for your class and gloss category.
Until when are the approvals valid?
Both approvals are valid until 31 December 2026 under the QUALICOAT Specifications applicable from 1 January 2026, and are renewed annually through QUALICOAT's testing and inspection programme. The current certificates were issued in Zurich on 19 December 2025 and are available as PDF on this page.
