Who this is for
Tier 1 and Tier 2 metal structural-part suppliers, industrial vehicle component makers, battery-pack housing and tray suppliers, seat-frame and chassis-periphery part makers, wheel manufacturers and automotive coating subcontractors.
What buyers need to solve
- Tier suppliers need a supplier base with a quality system, documentation, batch stability and traceability.
- Metal structural parts need corrosion protection, adhesion, appearance, humidity/weathering and line stability together.
- Project introduction is long; customers require samples, line trials, PPAP or other customer-specified document flows.
- Requirements differ widely between body, wheels, chassis, high-temperature parts and battery-pack structures; one powder cannot cover them all.
Candidate series and the logic behind them
| Requirement / part | Candidate | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Battery-pack housings, brackets, tray periphery, charging-equipment structures | E / EZ + P480 / P720 / P1680 | Shared with the energy-storage track; corrosion, humidity, weathering and system match verified first |
| Chassis-periphery brackets, seat frames, supports, vehicle-mounted cabinets, industrial vehicle parts | E / EZ; P series where needed | Corrosion, adhesion, primer system and IATF quality-system communication |
| Non-body decorative metal parts with higher appearance requirements | P series | Appearance, weathering and process trials per customer standard |
| Wheels, engine and high-heat parts, body-colour topcoats, direct OEM volume supply | Not a first-phase focus | Stone-chip, chemical, heat and OEM-specification data to be established per project |
Wheel coatings and other specialised automotive requirements are evaluated against their specific stone-chip, chemical-resistance and heat requirements before any commitment.
What is verified before release
| Test dimension | Focus |
|---|---|
| Quality system | IATF scope, customer supplier approval, documentation and batch management |
| Corrosion and adhesion | Substrate, pretreatment, film thickness, salt spray and customer tests |
| Process fit | Application, reclaim powder, cure window, edges and weld zones |
| Appearance / weathering | Colour, gloss and ageing on visible or outdoor parts per customer requirement |
| Project introduction | Samples, line trials, customer-specified documents and supplier procedures |
How the introduction runs. Part, substrate, service environment and line data → candidate series and colour-matched samples → trial panels or production parts on the customer's line → tests in WANAN's CNAS-accredited laboratory (L15415) or per the customer's programme → documentation and release. See manufacturing & quality.
Frequently asked questions
Does IATF 16949 certification mean WANAN powders are OEM-approved?
No. The IATF 16949:2016 certificate (registration 23 December 2025, valid to 22 December 2028) certifies that WANAN's design and manufacturing of thermosetting powder coatings meet the IATF quality-management requirements, with no permitted exclusions. It supports Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier pre-audits and documentation, but each product is qualified through the customer's or OEM's own specification, PPAP or equivalent process.
Which automotive parts does WANAN target first?
First-phase projects focus on metal structural parts that are not body-colour topcoats and not high-temperature core components: battery-pack housings and brackets, tray periphery, charging-equipment structures, seat frames, chassis-periphery brackets, vehicle-mounted cabinets and industrial vehicle parts. Wheels, engine parts and body finishes require additional stone-chip, chemical and heat data and are evaluated per project.
Can WANAN support PPAP and customer document flows?
WANAN's IATF 16949 system covers the documentation, traceability and batch-management requirements that automotive customers audit, and the CNAS-accredited laboratory (L15415) issues test data for submissions. Customer-specific formats such as PPAP are prepared with the customer's quality team during project introduction, after samples and line trials have been completed.
