Who this is for
Energy-storage system integrators, EV-charger manufacturers, PV mounting-structure fabricators, distribution and control cabinet makers, inverter and battery-pack housing suppliers, sheet-metal structure fabricators and their coating subcontractors.
What buyers need to solve
- Corrosion under outdoor exposure, condensation, salt fog or high humidity.
- Energy-storage cabinets, chargers and PV structures need both appearance and weathering performance.
- Primer-topcoat adhesion, cure window and batch stability in multi-layer systems.
- Project customers require TDS, SDS, test methods and line-trial records; outdoor electrical enclosures may require specific material systems and third-party documents.
Candidate series and the logic behind them
| Requirement / part | Candidate | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| General structural anti-corrosion | E | Neutral salt spray 1440 h (ISO 9227) |
| Higher anti-corrosion primer requirement | EZ | Zinc-rich epoxy primer, salt spray ≥ 2000 h |
| Outdoor weather-resistant topcoat | P480 / P720 / P1680 | Salt spray 480–1000 h · humidity 240–720 h · xenon-arc 500–1000 h |
| Steel enclosures of outdoor-use electrical equipment, UL 1332 | WA-DQ 001A | UL Recognized Component, 1-coat on pretreated SPCC, UL-US-2582808-0 |
| Primer + weather-resistant topcoat system | EZ or E + P series | Qualified as a system on trial panels |
Electrical-insulation powders for motors, batteries and electrical components are handled as a separate requirement from cabinet corrosion protection and are proposed with their own dielectric data.
What is verified before release
| Test dimension | Focus |
|---|---|
| Corrosion | Salt spray; edges and weld zones; system compatibility |
| Weathering | Xenon-arc, colour and gloss change |
| Humidity | Condensation and humidity performance |
| System match | Primer-topcoat adhesion, cure and inter-coat compatibility |
| Documentation | UL scope, project standard, specified model, substrate and system |
How the introduction runs. Part, substrate, service environment and line data → candidate series and colour-matched samples → trial panels or production parts on the customer's line → tests in WANAN's CNAS-accredited laboratory (L15415) or per the customer's programme → documentation and release. See manufacturing & quality.
Frequently asked questions
Which WANAN coating is UL 1332 recognized?
UL Certificate of Compliance UL-US-2582808-0 (issued 29 August 2025) covers representative samples of WANAN model WA-DQ 001A as a UL 1332 recognized component coating — category DTOV2, coatings for steel enclosures of outdoor-use electrical equipment, 1-coat system on pretreated SPCC cold-rolled steel. The recognition applies to that model and system only; it does not extend to other WANAN series.
Can an EZ primer and P1680 topcoat be specified for a coastal energy-storage cabinet?
EZ zinc-rich primer under a P1680 weather-resistant polyester topcoat is a common candidate system for coastal or industrial-atmosphere cabinets. Single-coat TDS values cannot be added, so the two-coat system is qualified on trial panels for inter-coat adhesion, cure matching and combined-system salt spray. WANAN's CNAS-accredited laboratory runs these tests during project qualification.
Does cabinet corrosion protection also cover electrical insulation?
No. Structural corrosion protection of a cabinet or housing and electrical insulation of motors, batteries or bus components are separate requirements. WANAN handles insulation with dedicated insulating powder grades and their own dielectric strength, thermal-cycling and withstand-voltage data. Both requirements can be captured in one enquiry, but they are matched to different products.
