When to use this guide
Use it for aluminium extrusions, curtain walls, windows and door hardware where the specification requires the QUALICOAT label.
What you need
- The project specification: QUALICOAT class and gloss category
- Colour reference
- The name of the QUALICOAT-licensed applicator
Steps
Read the class in the specification
Class 1 is the standard architectural quality; Class 2 is super-durable, with stricter accelerated-weathering and three-year Florida gloss-retention requirements.
Note the gloss category and colour
Approvals name a gloss category and whether a metallic extension is included; P-1436 lists RAL 7030 as a banned colour for its Class 1 system.
Ask for the approved system
Request the system on P-1436 (Class 1, gloss category 3, metallic extension) or P-1982 (Class 2, gloss category 2). P480, P720 and P1680 are not themselves the labelled systems.
Check validity
Both approvals are valid until 31 December 2026 and can be verified in the QUALICOAT approvals database at qualicoat.net.
Use a licensed applicator
The finished component carries the label only when coated by a QUALICOAT-licensed applicator; WANAN supplies the powder and approval documents.

- Leaving class or gloss category undefined
